| people between up to the age of 35 are becoming dumber and dumber |
Something has been bugging me lately. I have realized that young people up to the age of 35 are becoming dumber and dumber. Most of us are unwilling to learn anything new. We pick all our information from popular media, telenovelas, social media and what not.
I seldom see people reading books lately, except when they have to cram for an exam, or they need the information to get marks. They attend school, conferences and lectures everyday but they don’t care about what is being taught. You see, they learn for the marks, not to improve themselves. They will spend several hours having unproductive conversations about some so-called ‘celebrity’ and and his or her personal life. He studies maths but he doesn’t know Richard Fineman. Physics student, do you know Stephen Hawking or Nicola Tesla or Blaise Pascal? We know nothing about history or what to make of the future, and the English students are murdering the language. What went wrong?
We are in an age where information abounds due to technology but we seem to be devoid of information pertinent to making our lives better. We don’t have time to think anymore, nor do we desire intelligence, search for Wisdom has ceased. We lack the drive and passion to make a future for ourselves. We don't take our own decisions anymore. Rather, we are like robots, allowing our minds and actions to be controlled by the media. Ladies dress like Niki Minaj or Kim Kardashian and Guys want to look like Jay-Z or Chris Brown or some other person, no originality. Yet there is nothing intelligent about what these people do or say (always peddling some dumb philosophy).
Millennials have become insatiable addicts, hooked to all kinds unreal dimensions. We are addicted to Social Media, addicted to mobile phones, useless music, porn, TV, makeup, seductive dressing, drugs and sensual, sexual exhibitionism. We have become addicted to living fantasies, ignoring the things that really matter (family, friends, community, connections, etc) — a matter for another discussion.
We have embellished what is wrong, claiming it is “cool” and have set ourselves against all who are disciplined and do what is right. We have no respect for the aged, we lack basic manners, we have become shameless and uncouth, doing as we please, when we please.
See, we have ignored the guidance and examples of the elderly and have completely lost our way. The young lady doesn’t know how to cook so she is always asking to be taken out. She doesn’t know how to clean or wash, she is disrespectful, inhospitable and self-centered. The young man cannot fix a thing. He is always asserting his authority, a bully who doesn’t know the first thing about treating a woman right. He is preoccupied with having sex with anything in skirts but he lacks the sense of being responsible. No wonder our marriages do not last. The thing is, it goes beyond beauty and money and nice features; but the are the things at which we stop.
I am not oblivious to the fact that there are some exemplary young individuals out there. However, my concern is with the majority of our youth today. If we continue on the current path, I am afraid to say things will only get worse for our civilization and the elite class will become even smaller.
However, all is not lost. This generation is full of so much potential. If we are willing to accept these and not be offended, if we are willing to change, there is the possibility of becoming the greatest generation yet. So let us wake from this heavy slumber, let us quit from the playground, come out of that fantasy and do your bit to secure the future for succeeding generations.

Concerned Youth.
